Part I: South Jersey Games of the Week
Here are more top games in as the South Jersey football season continues this week:
Haddonfield (4-0) at St. Joseph (4-0), Saturday, 12 pm.
This will tell how big the gap is between No. 1 and the rest of South Jersey. Haddonfield is a top five team but will be an underdog against St. Joseph, the consensus top team in South Jersey. Our weekly update on St. Joseph junior running back-defensive back Jada Byers shows he has rushed for 836 yards (10.3 avg.) and 15 TDs. Haddonfield QB Jay Foley has completed 59.2 percent of his passes for 370 yards, eight TDs and one interception. Haddonfield senior defensive end Gabe Klaus has four sacks and leads a unit that has allowed just two TDs this season.
Paul VI (0-4) at Eastern (2-1), Friday, 7 pm.
This shouldn’t be a competitive game but it has a storyline of John Doherty coaching against his former team. Doherty was 75-56 in 13 seasons at Paul VI before going to Eastern last year. Now he has the Vikings on the rise. Eastern is coming off a 60-28 win over Washington Township and the Vikings are looking to score 50 or more points for the third straight game. Senior Andrew Heck threw five TD passes against Washington Township.Article continues below

Lenape (1-3) at Allentown (3-0), Friday, 7 pm.
Nobody has played a tougher schedule than Lenape, which is why despite the record, the Indians were seeded fourth in South Group 5 according to Gridironnewjersey.com. Williamstown, which is considered a Top-three team in South Jersey, was tested to the limit before beating the Indians, 12-3 last week. Lenape’s four opponents are 10-6, with Williamstown and St. Augustine consensus Top 10 teams and South Brunswick (3-1) the defending SJ Group 5 champion. Allentown, a South Group 3 power, has outscored its three opponents, 109-35.
St. Augustine (2-2) at Ocean City (3-0), Friday, 7 pm. St. Augustine is coming off a convincing 27-3 win over Sterling. The Hermits two losses are to St. College, PA (19-7) and to No. 1 St. Joseph (30-8). Junior Isaiah Raikes (6-2, 290) is among the top defensive linemen in the area, but he has also been a threat as a ball carrier, especially around the goal line. Ocean City is 3-0 for the first time since 2000. The Red Raiders have not played the more difficult part of their schedule yet and are coming off a hard-fought 9-0 win over Absegami.
Moorestown (0-3) at Shawnee (1-2), Friday, 7 pm.
Few people thought these two teams would be struggling. After two close games against Winslow Township and Nottingham, Moorestown was beaten by undefeated Burlington Township, 23-0 last week. The Quakers have to face unbeaten Highland next week so this game is even more crucial if the Quakers have playoff hopes. Shawnee has lost two in a row to Hammonton and St. Augustine and the Renegades have two undefeated teams left on their schedule, Woodrow Wilson next week and Williamstown two weeks after.
